Greater Pittsburgh Soapbox Derby

2005 Ultimate Speed Challenge

 

Application for participation in the 2005 All-American Soap Box Derby Ultimate Speed Racing Challenge will be accepted via mail beginning November 15th, 2004.

 

A racing team will consist of a driver, crew chief, and two team members. One team member will be required in the run out area (car loading area) and one team member will be required at the starting line (car unloading area) during any run of the race car on Derby Down's track. A maximum of four team members, named in the registration process, will be allowed. The Team Driver must be 16 years through 18 years of age on All-American Soap Box Derby annual race day. The Team Driver must have participated in an All-American Soap Box Derby sanctioned Local or Rally Competition.

 

The first 27 correctly completed team applications determined by postmark between November 15th, 2004 and December 31, 2004 will be accepted. A $100 participation fee must accompany registration. Registration fees for teams not correctly completing application or not falling within the first 27 qualified applications received will be refunded.

Notification of application acceptance will be provided prior to the end of January 2005. Upon notification of acceptance additional waiver and parental/guardian consent forms may be required for participation. At that time the Official Ultimate Speed Racing Rules based on participation guidelines currently available on the AASBD web site (http://aasbd.com/docs/US_110404.doc) will be published.

The Crew Chief agrees to lead a construction project that will result in an Ultimate Speed Race Car to be entered in the All-American Soap Box Derby annual Ultimate Speed held during race week of the All-American Soap Box Derby.

 

The Ultimate Speed Race Car that is to be entered in the All-American Soap Box Derby annual Ultimate Speed Competition will be constructed in full compliance with the current Official Divisional Rules as published in the Official Ultimate Speed Racing Rules Booklet for the All-American Soap Box Derby.

 

The Team driver will be from 16 through 18 years old and will operate the Ultimate Speed Race Car as described above representing the Ultimate Speed Team in the All-American Soap Box Derby annual competition to be held in Akron Ohio at Derby Downs.  A parental waiver form must be signed.

 

All Team members will abide by the rules of eligibility as stated in the current Official Divisional Rules as published in the Official Ultimate Speed Racing Rules Booklet for the All-American Soap Box Derby.

 

All team members agree:

 

Any and all expenses incurred in transporting the Ultimate Speed Race Car to and from Akron shall be at their sole expense.

 

The team will cause the Race Car to arrive at Derby Downs, Akron Ohio as required for pre-race inspections and trial runs.

 

The team will meet all deadlines and schedules from time to time established by International Soap Box Derby, Inc. for the performance of acts and submission of documentation and information relative to race car construction and team performance.

 

As a precedent to participation in the Ultimate Speed Competition the team understands and agrees that the team driver with the Race Car shall undergo and pass an inspection conducted at Akron, Ohio by representatives chosen in the sole and absolute discretion of the International Soap Box Derby, Inc. Such inspection shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulation set forth in the current Official Divisional Rules as published in the Official Ultimate Speed Racing Rules Booklet for the All-American Soap Box Derby. It is understood and agreed that the decisions of the representatives conducting the inspection shall be final.

 

Team Members will hold harmless the International Soap Box Derby, Inc. as well as any Sponsor or Agent of the International Soap Box Derby, Inc.  Any team member younger than 18 years old must have a parental/guardian waiver form signed.
